The Ritchie Homestead

The original stone house was built in 1894 by Albert Luttrell as part of a large farm that overlooked Lake Huron. In 1924 Emil Ritchie purchased the farm from Albert to raise his 6 children with his wife Jannie . The house was inherited by Len Ritchie- one of Emil's two sons who was a gifted electrician and handyman. Len refinished the home and added the back addition. Len and his family- Bonnie, Gord, Paul and Kevin used the homestead as a summer getaway until retirement when Len and Bonnie came to spend more time here.  In 2015 Randall and Kim Helm (son of Jessie Helm- nee Ritchie) purchased the homestead from Bonnie to keep the property in the family. Kim and Randall converted the stone house to a vacation property for the enjoyment of others. In the spring of 2016 renovations will see a beatiful sunroom and balcony added to the front of the home to improve the views of the lake and the famous Kincardine sunsets. The over 1 acre property provides ample privacy and room for playing soccer, badminton, horseshoes, etc. with family and friends.
